Winter Wednesdays at Carolina Horse Park

The Carolina Horse Park hosted 60 jumpers and a dozen dressage horses for the Winter Wednesday schooling show Feb. 2. One hour of judged dressage was offered between schooling rounds, and Alison Coates produced the best scored test in her intermediate debut (38 penalties). Coates, a teacher at the O’Neal School, squeezed in the show during a two-period break.

Athens Olympian John Williams of Middleburg, Va., and Southern Pines dominated the jumper ring with his event horses.

2’9” Class: 1. Jeannette Ford, 2. John Williams, 3. Noel Clark.

3’0” Class: 1. John Williams, 2. Ashley McVaugh, 3. Bobby Stevenson.

3’6” Class: 1. John Williams, 2. Diane Tate, 3. Noel Clark.
