Seawolf Memorial Trophy
Seawolf, (1981-1992) owned by Southern Pines resident
Mrs. Warner Atkins, was the epitome of the English Thoroughbred, and known to his friends as a
"scholar and a gentleman".
Campaigned by Karen Reuter, Seawolf won the 1990
Mid-Florida Open Intermediate, followed by a win at Advanced at North Georgia. After finishing 5th at
Kentucky Rolex CCI***, he was chosen to train with the USET for the upcoming World Championships at
Stockholm. While training in England, Seawolf sustained an injury and was unable to compete. His next
major competition, Boekelo CCI***, saw him placing 3rd.
Named to the short list for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics,
Seawolf died competing at the Luhmuhlen CCI*** when heart failure claimed him at the coffin jump. The
Seawolf Memorial Trophy was established by Mrs. Atkins for the Best Overall Advanced Horse. The
replica trophy was generously created and donated by Hawkins and Harkness Jewelers of Southern Pines.

The Page Shamburger
Memorial Trophy
Small in stature, but large on the enthusiasm of life,
Page Shamburger was a pioneer who left her mark in all she attempted to accomplish. She attained
standards that many of us only dream of. One of the first licensed women pilots, Page was the first woman
ever to fly an Air Force fighter jet and was the first woman to fly into the eye of a hurricane.
Active in many flying and local civic groups, Page owned
and operated Page Travel in Southern Pines and for many years served as the Secretary of the
Walthour-Moss Foundation. It was her involvement in the Foundation and all activities of our "Hunt
Country" that caused her to be an avid supporter of the Southern Pines Horse Trials.
In Page's honor, we established the Page Shamburger
Memorial Trophy, a perpetual trophy awarded to the Overall Low score in the Intermediate Division.
This trophy was graciously designed and donated by Hawkins and Harkness Jewelers of Southern Pines.
