Raeford, NC May 5, 2017 The Carolina Horse Park is pleased to announce the official kick-off of the Adequan War Horse Event Series Presented by Southern Pines Equine Associates (WHES) May 13-14, 2017. The Series has earned high praise since its inception in 2013 for its innovative and educational competition format which allows for a safe and affordable introduction to the sport of Eventing.  In 2017, the Horse Park and WHES Organizers are thrilled to increase the prize money for the Series from $5,000 to $10,000 and to award $15,000 worth of sponsor products.

The WHES will continue to showcase a format of allowing for schooling in all three phases the day prior to competition, to help horses and riders be as prepared as possible for a positive competition experience.

“The purpose of this format is to encourage the idea of preparing the horse for the show. We want every horse and rider to have a positive experience, and we feel this arrangement will provide all competitors with the opportunity to achieve the best results possible,” said Carolina Horse Park Program Director Marc Donovan. “We are committed to helping riders in our eventing community further their education, build strong foundations, and train young horses."

In 2017 the Series is once again supported by a key group of corporate sponsors. Adequan® returns for the third year as title sponsor, while Southern Pines Equine Associates continues their support as presenting sponsor and Merial join the Series for the second year as hospitality sponsor.

Cavalry Equine Connection has been named the official charity of the 2017 Adequan War Horse Event Series Presented by Southern Pines Equine Associates, with a portion of WHES entries going directly to this charitable organization.

Additionally, participants in the Virginia Horse Trials Starter Trials will be able to earn points and qualify for the WHES Championships taking place November 11-12, 2017 at the Carolina Horse Park.
