Structure:
Each rider will be assigned a clinician to serve as a mentor. The clinician will meet with the rider to discuss what the rider wants to achieve in the coming competition season. Then the clinician will evaluate the horse and rider relative to those goals.
At the end of the evaluation period all clinicians will meet to group riders according to their needs and set a schedule for the next three days. The mentor clinician will check on the rider’s progress throughout the clinic. Scribes will record each session for the riders. Videographers will be available for an additional fee. At the end of the clinic the clinician will work with the rider to establish a training program to continue progress toward the rider’s goals or to help the rider reestablish more appropriate goals.
Schedule:
Riders will meet with their mentor clinician early Monday morning for an interview. They will also ride with the mentor sometime Monday morning for evaluation. During midday on Monday the riders will meet with a Pilates instructor to learn exercises designed to increase flexibility and conditioning for riding while the clinicians will spend the time grouping riders for an afternoon session. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all riders will ride twice a day: one session of dressage and one of either show jumping or cross-country. There will also be options for riders to ride a critiqued dressage test, a modified cross-country course, or work on steeplechase skills depending on what their interests, goals, and needs are. The format of this clinic offers opportunities for personalized schedule.
