GENERAL
1.1 The
American Eventing Championship will be held on September 20 –
24, 2006 at the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, North
Carolina, and will be confined to qualified riders with
qualified horses.
1.2 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination, must qualify at
the level to be entered.
1.3 Horses
and riders must be members/registered with the USEA at time of
gaining qualifications and during the AEC competition
1.4 The
qualification period shall be August 2, 2005 to August 21,
2006.
1.5 A
qualifying result is only valid with not more than 20 jumping
penalties in the cross-country phase.

ENTRIES
2.1
Opening date is Tuesday, July 25, 2006. Closing date is August
22, 2006. (A presidential modification has been granted by
USEF to allow these dates to occur outside the timeframe
stipulated in the USEF General Regulations.)
2.2 A list
of qualified horses and riders, along with the level they are
qualified for, will be maintained on the USEA website.
2.3 Riders
must include their top three qualifying results during the
qualifying period on their entry form for the level they
entered in the AEC.
2.4
Incomplete entries may be refused at the discretion of the
organizer.
2.5 For
all non-“Horse” divisions- Riders may be entered for the AEC
no more than one level below the highest level at which they
have competed during the qualifying period, i.e. if the
highest level the rider has completed competitions is the
Preliminary level during the qualifying period, the rider may
only enter the championships at the Preliminary or Training
levels, if qualified. (This provision shall not apply to
designated “Horse” divisions in which riders at any level of
experience may enter, provided that the horse is qualified.)
2.6 For
all “Horse” divisions- Horses may be entered for the AEC no
more than one level below the highest level at which they have
competed during the qualifying period, i.e. if the highest
level the horse has completed competitions is the Preliminary
level during the qualifying period, the horse may only be
entered in a “Horse” division at the championships at the
Preliminary and Training levels, if qualified. (This
provision shall not apply to any division other than
designated “Horse” divisions.)

AMERICAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINNER NOVICE LEVEL. This
level will include one division.
3.1 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination, during the
period from August 2, 2005 to August 21, 2006 will qualify to
compete in the AEC Beginner Novice division when they have
been placed:
- Two
first through third placings in any USEA recognized Beginner
Novice Horse Trials.
- OR: 1st
through fifth placing in any USEA Beginner Novice Area
Championship
Neither horse
nor rider can have competed at higher than the Novice level
during the qualifying period; and if they have competed at
Novice, it can be no more than five times during the
qualifying period. In this instance, “competed” is defined as
starting the dressage phase, regardless of whether or not the
horse and rider finish the competition.
The horse
and rider must be registered with the USEA. For the Beginner
Novice division only, If rider membership and horse
registration are in place by April 30, 2006, points and
placing(s) from August 2, 2005 through April 30, 2006 will be
retroactive, providing proof of qualifying rides is submitted
to the USEA. The USEA will not automatically assign points
or placings—you must contact the Member Services Department to
submit this information. After April 30, 2006 NO
qualifications will be honored!
4.
AMERICAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP NOVICE LEVEL. This level will
include a total of three divisions to be offered in the
categories of Open (CH), Jr/YR (CH), and Horse (CH).
4.1 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination, during the
period from August 2, 2005 to August 21, 2006 will qualify to
compete in the AEC Novice division when they have been placed:
- 1st or
2nd in any USEA recognized Novice Horse Trials.
- OR: 3rd
in two USEA recognized Novice Horse Trials
- OR: 1st
through 5th in any USEA Novice Area Championship
5.
AMERICAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP TRAINING LEVEL. This level will
include a total of three divisions to be offered in the
categories of Open (CH), Jr/YR (CH), and Horse (CH).
5.1 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination, during the
period from August 2, 2005 to August 21, 2006 will qualify to
compete in the AEC Training division when they have been
placed:
- 1st or
2nd in any USEA recognized Training Horse Trials.
- OR: 3rd
in at least two USEA recognized Training Horse Trials
- OR: 1st
through 5th in any USEA Training Area Championship

AMERICAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP PRELIMINARY LEVEL. This level
will include a total of three divisions to be offered in the
categories of Open (CH), Jr/YR (CH), and Horse (CH).
6.1 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination, during the
period from August 2, 2005 to August 21, 2006 will qualify to
compete in the AEC Preliminary division when they have been
placed:
- 1st or
2nd in any USEA recognized Preliminary Horse Trials.
- OR: 3rd
in at least two USEA recognized Preliminary Horse Trials
- OR: 1st
through 5th in any USEA Preliminary Area Championship
- OR: 1st
to 5th in any CIC*
- OR: 1st
to 6th in any CCI*
7.
AMERICAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP INTERMEDIATE LEVEL. This level
will include one single division to be classified as Open (CH).
7.1 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination, during the
period from August 2, 2005 to August 21, 2006 will qualify to
compete in the AEC Intermediate division when they have been
placed:
- 1st or
2nd in any USEA recognized Intermediate Horse Trials.
- OR: 3rd
in at least two USEA recognized Intermediate Horse Trials
- OR: 1st
through 5th in any USEA Intermediate Area Championship
- OR: 1st
to 5th in any CIC**
- OR: 1st
to 6th in any CCI**
8.
AMERICAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP ADVANCED LEVEL. This level will
include one single division to be classified as Open (CH).
8.1 Horses
and riders, not necessarily as a combination during the period
from August 2, 2005 to August 21, 2006 will qualify to compete
in the AEC Advanced division when they have been placed:
- 1st to
6th in any USEA recognized Advanced Horse Trials.
- OR: 1st
to 10th any USEA Advanced Area Championship
- OR: 1st
to 8th in any CIC***
- OR: 1st
to 10th in any CCI***
- OR: 1st
to 20th in any CCI****.
- OR: If
the horse and rider as a combination have represented the
United States at a Pan American, World or Olympic Games,
they are automatically qualified, regardless of when this
qualifying result was achieved.
