About Us…
The Carolina Horse Park, a North Carolina nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) exempt organization, (“CHP” or the “Park”) was founded in 1998 by a group of equestrian enthusiasts dedicated to preserving open spaces and promoting responsible land use. Organized with the objective of becoming a premier international and national horse sport venue, the Park runs a diverse calendar of events including the Stoneybrook Steeplechase, Championship level horse trials, hunter/jumper shows, dressage competitions, driving events and many other shows.
Today, CHP is the only equestrian facility in the mid-Atlantic region with multi-disciplined capabilities suitable for championship level competitions including combined driving events, hunter/jumper shows, dressage, eventing, dressage, and steeplechase. In addition, the Park is now home to variety of non-equestrian activities including dog shows and dog racing, track and field meets, and those who regularly enjoy a leisurely walk in the woods.
The Mission:
The mission is to provide a nationally recognized equine event facility leveraging the Carolina’s rich and longstanding equine industry and history while preserving our open space and fostering the growth of horse sports. The Park strives to service a large and growing horse industry challenged by loss of land for riding/driving competitions, zoning laws, liability, waste management, and lack of state funding.
